The continued rise of the AfD and the future of Germany and the EU.

Within the framework of the project 'Protecting European Values' led by KEW and co-financed by the European Commission, the focus is on the rise of the AfD (the second strongest party after the 2025 federal election). Particularly in East Germany, with about 40 percent approval (except in Berlin), it is extremely successful – a development that is closely related to fundamental questions of identity, values, and worldviews, and also affects all of Europe. The causes of its success, the possible consequences for Germany and the EU, as well as the necessary and expected social and political responses are to be discussed.
