Cafe Courage Session Band

The Cafe Courage Session Band is a project of the Treibhaus e.V. Döbeln.
Musicians from the former district of Döbeln meet monthly at the greenhouse to make music. Two years ago, the idea emerged to work on this more intensively. Depending on the availability of the musicians, 8 to 13 women and men participate.
The project is led by the former music teacher of the Döbeln high school.
The band formed from musicians who met and valued each other at the jam session in Café Courage Döbeln. The goal of the jam session was always for musicians from the region to get to know each other, network, and develop joint band projects through spontaneous music-making. The band now consists of 13 musicians from Saxony, Thuringia, and Saxony-Anhalt. Musically, we are committed to the legacy of the Blues Brothers, B.B. King, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, but also to a reinterpretation of Guns & Roses. Our repertoire covers a wide stylistic range from grooving swing, soulful ballads, earthy blues, and rhythm-focused funk combined with soulful vocals. The musicians create an interplay between traditional and modern playing aesthetics and bring the brilliance of this fascinating music to life with their own arrangements.
