Diversity on the sidelines. What’s next for civic engagement and democracy work in Saxony?

Chemnitz and Saxony boast a diverse landscape of civic engagement that promotes solidarity within a society of migrants and supports a vibrant democracy. Yet in times of tight public budgets, many initiatives are coming under pressure, projects are on the verge of being shut down, and an ever-increasing workload is falling on the shoulders of volunteers. Especially in light of growing social polarization, this civic engagement is more important than ever. On the panel, local stakeholders affected by the budget cuts will discuss the consequences of these developments for Chemnitz and the region, as well as the prospects and options for future work on democracy and diversity.
