Outsourcing in the Healthcare Industry

Collective bargaining agreements ensure good working conditions and a say in workplace decisions. At Chemnitz University Hospital, approximately 1,400 employees are unionized and work to ensure good working conditions and regular pay raises. Thousands of employees have been outsourced over the past 20 years. This circumvents collective bargaining agreements and makes union organizing more difficult. For the past four years, many employees have been organizing to fight back. We’ll share insights on outsourcing, union solidarity, and the move toward a unified workforce with collective goals.
