Preview: Nachtarchiv - Chemnitz Club Culture Between the GDR and Y2K

From the youth clubs of the GDR to the anarchic, often improvised party venues of the post-reunification era, all the way to the style-defining clubs of the late 1990s and early 2000s: “Nachtarchiv” explores the sometimes-forgotten venues of Chemnitz’s club culture, its influential figures, and their stories.

This preview exhibition offers a first glimpse into the research findings to date: In addition to professional photographs from the respective eras, the exhibition primarily features unpublished photographs from private archives, which were compiled in close collaboration with numerous key figures from the scene.

At the same time, it serves as a call for contributions, because the archive is not yet complete! We’re looking for: photos, posters, videos, quirky artifacts, and memories.
