Live cooking sound performance

Radial Taste Wokout is a live cooking-sound performance project founded in 2024 by Helmi Addibani and Felix Birke from Leipzig. Changing chefs and artists expand the ensemble. They are all united by a love of food and sound.
Together they create a multi-sensory, collective experience that raises the question of cooking and eating culture in its connection with the environment, sound and space. The wok, objects, ingredients and the entire cooking process itself become media for sound production.
Through the use of various microphones, samplers and synthesizers, cooking on stage becomes free jazz, an ambient tapestry, a sizzling and frying soundscape in which live cooking sounds mingle with confused electronic sounds and abstract rhythms. The preparation of the ensemble's dishes simultaneously forms a choreography of dynamics, style and gesture, realized on his instruments.
For KOSMOS Chemnitz 2025, Helmi Addibani invites the chef and producer Jose Maria Rios Gutierrez (Leipzig/Madrid) to a Radial Taste Wokout. Once again, aromas and scents will rise, cooking sounds will be heard and manipulated. At the end, anyone who wants to can taste what culinary delights have been created in the 45 minutes.
