Talk of the Future – AI, Communication, and Democracy

Artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming public communication: It influences what information becomes visible, how opinions are formed, and which positions prevail in social debates. This raises a central question for democratic societies: Does this development lead to a loss of direction—or does it open up new forms of participation and democratic shaping? In this interactive format, researchers from the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Central Institute for Human and Technology Studies at Chemnitz University of Technology will jointly present different perspectives. Four scholars from the fields of political science, philosophy, media and communication studies, and AI research will each present a provocative thesis, which will then be discussed together with the audience.
