History
KOSMOS Chemnitz originated from a civil society movement and today sees itself as a platform for lived democracy. Since its premiere as a response to social tensions, it has been continuously evolving – artistically, politically, and communally. Year after year, the festival demonstrates how people from Chemnitz and Europe create new forms of exchange and cohesion together.
2018
In direct response to right-wing riots in the city, committed residents of Chemnitz are organizing a huge concert under the title #wirsindmehr as a protest event - a statement for tolerance that is reported on worldwide.

2019
From #wirsindmehr to #wirbleibenmehr and officially the first KOSMOS CHEMNITZ right in the center. In addition to national & international acts, many Chemnitz players from clubs and initiatives are now also on site, showing what the city has to offer.

2021
Due to the ongoing pandemic, KOSMOS CHEMNITZ, in collaboration with cultural creators from Chemnitz, will be divided into many small events that will take place both in person and digitally. A highlight is the Machiavelli Session with rapper Nura and the Robert Schumann Philharmonic (4.7 million views on Youtube)
2022
The KOSMOS Festival is establishing itself as a tool for democratic social cooperation in the city. With its broad involvement, it creates a strong sense of community and a new perception.
