KOSMOS REVUE
Festival opening at Chemnitz City Hall!

Published on June 29, 26
KOSMOS Chemnitz is growing. On August 29, 2026, the free city festival will take place in Chemnitz city centre for the fifth time. And for the first time, there will be an opening show the night before: the KOSMOS REVUE, a new format complementing the festival program. On Friday, August 28, 2026, at 8 PM, Chemnitz City Hall will host a show that combines pop culture, attitude, and community.
A blend of concert, humor, and contemporary culture
The KOSMOS REVUE is not just a simple concert. Friday evening will feature a carefully curated program of music, entertainment, conversation, and surprising pop-cultural moments. True to the spirit of KOSMOS, the focus is on experimenting with new formats that break with convention. Chemnitz City Hall is conceived as an extension of the festival—a place of closeness: intimate, focused, and extraordinary.
The focus is on unique collaborations and moments that can only arise on this evening, in this place. Democratic values, openness to the world, and tolerance—not as a call to action, but as a lived attitude, with humor and without preaching.
The Chemnitz-based Club Atomino and Von Welten are responsible for the artistic direction of the KOSMOS REVUE.
For over 25 years, the Atomino has been one of the most important independent cultural venues in Chemnitz. As a stage, meeting place, and creative hub, it has had a significant influence on Chemnitz’s pop culture—and as early as 2018, it was the driving force behind #wirsindmehr—both in terms of content and production—the concert that gave rise to KOSMOS. The Atomino stands for a progressive, local pop culture characterized by attitude, humor, and a sense of community.
As an experienced partner in booking and artist management, Von Welten brings national and international perspectives to the curation and complements the REVUE program—which features the Chemnitz scene—with content of national relevance.
The event is produced by the municipal C³ Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren.
KOSMOS Saturday remains free of cost
The KOSMOS REVUE is a deliberate expansion of the festival. KOSMOS Saturday, August 29, 2026, will take place as usual free of charge in Chemnitz city centre and is open to everyone with free admission. The opening show on Friday evening creates a new, more intimate setting for the festival weekend while also enabling new forms of production—all at a deliberately low admission price.
Tickets
Tickets for the KOSMOS REVUE are available starting June 29, 2026, at 6 PM for €25, incl. advance booking fees—online via Rausgegangen and at the usual advance ticket outlets of Chemnitz City Hall.
Program details will be published in the coming weeks.
