Start with a Friend e. V. (SwaF)

Since the beginning of 2022, the association Start with a Friend e.V. (SwaF) has also been active in Chemnitz. The aim of the association is to bring together people with and without immigration backgrounds through personal encounters, thereby strengthening social cohesion. This is mainly achieved through 1:1 tandem partnerships, where a so-called "Local" is connected with a "Newcomer". These tandems enable intercultural exchange on equal footing and promote mutual understanding.

The Chemnitz SwaF team has built a vibrant community since its inception. Regular events such as information evenings, regulars' tables, and leisure activities – such as frisbee playing or game nights – provide opportunities for meeting and exchange. Popular meeting points include the Küchwaldwiese and the Weltecho, where information evenings and events also take place.
