Eastward: Conversations on East German Identities

The podcast “Ostwärts: Conversations About East German Identities” gives a voice to people with a history in East Germany and shares personal stories about their origins, identities, and experiences in eastern Germany. It explores what it means to be East German today, addressing topics such as the upheaval following the fall of the Berlin Wall, social participation, and new perspectives on the East. Instead of merely talking about East Germany, those directly affected speak for themselves and share their perspectives on stereotypes, differences, and opportunities. In doing so, the podcast aims to present a more nuanced and respectful picture of East German identities.
