Jemek Jemowit
Ziemowit Nowak is an artist and musician who works under the name Jemek Jemowit. His artistic career is characterized by a cross-genre approach that blends music, performance, and audiovisual works. Through deliberate shifts in style and form, he explores social and cultural phenomena.
In 1989, he moved to Berlin with his family and grew up in Berlin-Gropiusstadt. He began creating his first musical works as a teenager, accompanied by early
self-produced recordings and performances. Since the 2010s, he has been releasing music regularly and developing an artistic practice that has increasingly expanded from purely musical productions to include installation-based and audiovisual formats. At the heart of his work is an examination of anti-Slavic and anti-Eastern European racism in Germany, as well as questions of memory, identity, and representation.
Jemek Jemowit lives and works in Berlin.
