Margarete Jahrmann

I am a gamer, game artist, researcher, and professor of Experimental Game Cultures at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. In 2021, I participated in the Havana Biennial; in 2025, I received the Austrian Media Art Prize; and in 2020, I received the City of Vienna Media Art Prize for my ongoing work in the field of critical media and game art. In 2025, I curated a solo exhibition at the AIL Gallery in Vienna. I consider my participation in events such as re:publica 2024/21, AMAZE Berlin 2023, and the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts in Taipei, Taiwan, in 2024 to be particularly significant. In 2026, my monograph *KOPFGELD and Other Ludic Experiments* was published, exploring artistic research, neuroscience, and art. Through collaborative and interdisciplinary artistic practice, I develop an artistic LUDIC method and explore the human and non-human, the cognitive and emotional, in the context of ecology, democracy, and society.
